Leah is the founder of Snappystreet Creative and is the creative force behind this very podcast.
Leah is a photographer, podcast creator and audio producer. An experienced audio engineer who spent a large portion of her career producing content for some of Australia’s largest radio networks including TripleM, Nova Entertainment, and 2DayFM.

It’s fair to say that Leah has been instrumental in getting me “unstuck” from starting a podcast, something that languished on my “to-do” list for many years.
In this conversation, Leah emphasises the importance of storytelling and shares practical tips for gaining confidence, leveraging one’s unique story, and the benefits of creating pros and cons lists for decision-making.
Highlights:
- The importance of taking a first step: Understanding that getting unstuck requires taking a step, even if it’s not the “right” step.
- Expectations created by big decisions: Leah explains how she became paralysed making big decisions about what path to take at the very beginning of her career.
- Pros and cons lists: Leah shares her love of a pros and cons list to help her think through working out how to make progress when she’s feeling stuck.
- Fear of “showing up”: Why people feel vulnerable showing up in images, video or audio to share their stories.

12: Dr Lucy Burns on achieving long term health and weight loss
Wednesday Apr 10, 2024
Wednesday Apr 10, 2024
In this episode, Helen chats with Dr Lucy Burns.
Dr Lucy Burns is a GP and lifestyle medicine physician. But that’s really just the headline because she is soooo much more than that.
The first and most important thing to know about Lucy is that she is “real” - a real person and a real doctor with the real health and wellness issues we all experience every day.
In her late teens, Lucy was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy, which impairs her mobility… but not her intellect or determination.
Becoming overweight during her 40s, Lucy embarked on the search for a solution and in 2018 she lost 20 kgs by adopting a real food, low carb lifestyle and applying focussed psychological strategies to adjusting her mindset.
Her experience highlighted the gap in medical information and education around the relationship between insulin-resistance and weight gain, particularly for women experiencing perimenopause and menopause.
In this conversation, Lucy talks about the importance of setting yourself up for success, understanding the role of insulin resistance in weight gain, and reprogramming your mindset to create a healthy relationship with food and your body.
Highlights:
- Being a “do-er”: Doing something or taking action of any type is Lucy’s go to solution for those moments when she recognises the onset of feeling stuck.
- Career transition: How being fully booked in her clinical practice led to her transitioning her work into the online world in order to meet demand.
- Reframing “healthy”: Dr Lucy explains that being healthy is not about being skinny or “having a thigh gap” but rather about embracing a healthy lifestyle and mindset.
- Unlocking the wood shed: Using her trademark “wood shed” story, Dr Lucy outlines how a carby / starchy diet leads to insulin resistance and weight gain; and, provides some simple strategies to start bringing things under control.
- Medical hypnotherapy: It’s hard to change our behaviour without understanding our subconscious brain and the fact that we’re subjected to a wide range of subliminal or overt messaging influencing our eating habits.
- Holistic health practice: Health care policies and other systemic issues that mean that society is generally more focussed on “sickness” rather than wellness and prevention.

11: Kate Merryweather on showing up on LinkedIn to grow your personal brand
Wednesday Apr 03, 2024
Wednesday Apr 03, 2024
In this episode, Helen chats with Kate Merryweather.
Kate Merryweather describes herself as “that redheaded LinkedIn coach”, although I’d argue she is “THE redheaded LinkedIn coach”... surely there is no-one else?
Kate believes that LinkedIn is a tool that can transform your life — IF you have the right strategy. She teaches clients to create and share content that turns fans into followers and followers into buyers.
Kate is the first to admit she wasn’t born a LinkedIn expert. Her career has been a text book of experimentation, intentional choices and evolution. With a background in Public Relations, Kate chose the path of self-employment after she started her family. She spent 10 years as a copywriter and SEO specialist.
In this conversation, Kate talks about how you need to get out of your head, push beyond your comfort zone and try new things in order to create success in your business or career.
Highlights:
- Recognising “stuck” signs: How dropping the ball with her client work and feeling disinterested in what she was doing led Kate to realising she was professionally stuck.
- Going back to being a beginner: Being brave, taking small steps and accepting you need to learn as you go are the keys to getting unstuck and finding your way and growing your profile on LinkedIn.
- Creating a strategy that works for you: Kate explains how she fell into using LinkedIn as her chosen promotional channel - identifying where her target audience was and finding a way to differentiate herself in a crowded marketplace.
- Fear of Showing Up (FOSU): Understanding the excuses you’re making for why you’re not using LinkedIn or implementing a strategy on the platform that works for you.
- Benefits of experiments, mistakes and deadends: Building a business helping people use LinkedIn was a process of experimenting and testing different options to find the right solution.
- Authenticity is key: Creating a sense of familiarity and building your know, like and trust factor by showing up as your “real self” - ensuring others feel comfortable engaging with you and knowing what to expect.

10: Cynthia Chung on making big decisions and leading the way for others
Wednesday Mar 27, 2024
Wednesday Mar 27, 2024
In this episode, Helen chats with Cynthia Chung.
Cynthia is a procurement guru. Her 20-year career spans diverse industries including consulting, technology, automotive, FMCG, and retail.
Cynthia has a track record of building highly effective teams that drive award-winning outcomes.
Having spent the last 8.5 years with one of the world’s most recognised brands, Nandos, Cynthia has recently taken the leap into a new role with Vicinity Centres, a leading retail property group here in Australia.
In recent years Cynthia has been active in leveraging her professional achievements to promote the benefits of a diverse workforce, to encourage more varied representation in leadership roles, and to advocate for and be a role model for women from multicultural backgrounds.
In this conversation, Cynthia talks about making big decisions, accepting not everything is going to work out perfectly or as you might hope or expect, and stepping out of her comfort zone to be a role model for others.
Highlights:
- Stop blending in, start standing out: How her early life experience of trying to “blend in” led her to realising that she should be proud of not being the same as everyone else and step forward to showcase her differences.
- Challenging unconscious bias: Cynthia explains how even after more than 20 years experience she is still dealing with, often unintentional, but mostly unfounded perceptions about who she is and what she brings to a professional setting.
- Developing diversity in the workplace: The importance for businesses of having a diverse workforce, to benefit their growth and bottom line.
- Avoiding analysis paralysis: A procurement expert’s advice on how to get unstuck from making big purchase decisions (or any big decisions!).
- Fitting your oxygen mask first: Prioritising self-care and protecting her energy in order to best support her professional and personal responsibilities and commitments.
